Jon managed to secure our webpage due to his previous experience in making a webpage

We have links to various different pages on the website, news, instant updates about gigs and events. We also have links to our social networking pages for people to join and receive more updates even faster

Digipak Feedback

I finished off editing the pictures we had taken for our digipak. I finished the cover and doing all the blurby bits and we looked at them on the projector.

Our results were as follows:

Photographic Images: Sharp, well lit, well framed image - the headless model in keeping with indie genre
Interesting mix of props - wealth vs. low life brick background. Strong colour.

Typography and text: Font appropriate - should band name be different font. Size and layout ok.

Layout Decisions: All O.K. figure + braces succeed in drawing attention

Genre codes and indicators of Target Audience: Style + choice of track names suggests indie audience,
                                                                            young male?

Overall Impact: Strong impact from cover, inside faces lack detail (add track lengths, writer etc.)

Webpage layout Powertpoint

This is our powerpoint of the ideas we are going to use in the design of our webpage for the band. We have referenced bands homepages such as the Foo Fighters (we used their song for our production), Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Foals.

<div style="width:425px" id="__ss_11276062"><strong style="display:block;margin:12px 0 4px"><a href="http://www.slideshare.net/callison1318/website-research-11276062" title="Website research">Website research</a></strong><object id="__sse11276062" width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://static.slidesharecdn.com/swf/ssplayer2.swf?doc=websiteresearch-120126085228-phpapp01&stripped_title=website-research-11276062&userName=callison1318" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"/><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"/><param name="wmode" value="transparent"/><embed name="__sse11276062" src="http://static.slidesharecdn.com/swf/ssplayer2.swf?doc=websiteresearch-120126085228-phpapp01&stripped_title=website-research-11276062&userName=callison1318" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object><div style="padding:5px 0 12px">View more <a href="http://www.slideshare.net/">presentations</a> from <a href="http://www.slideshare.net/callison1318">callison1318</a>.</div></div>

Our favourite was The Foals as they have a simple design thats effective and easy to navigate, also we liked the image for the background that makes it stand out to the others

Planning

In todays lesson, me and Jon set about planning our ancillary task jobs. I printed out a to scale template for a digipak and drew some concept art over the cover inside and back to get a general gist of how it will look when we have taken the photos for the actual digipak.

Planning Ancillary Tasks

Today we started to plan our ancillary tasks. Our choices were to do a website homepage for our band, as Jon is doing ICT it should play to his strengths, and also a digipack for the bands album. We decided to plan in a boardroom style way with a whiteboard and writing down any ideas that came to mind.

For the website we decided to give it a stylish look of bitonal with wither black and white or black and red as the prominent colours. This was a good place to start so we can form a base for the website and add things like links and news on to it to make it more professional looking.

Our digipack needed to relate to the name of our band we had made up which is 'Attitude Suspenders' so an idea i had was to have a picture of a 50s style person wearing suspenders smoking a cigar but only showing the lower part of his face and his torso.

So far this is all we have but we plan to develop these ideas in future lessons

Re Editing

The editing of our latest footage was long and arduous, after deciding to lose our original ending. We eventually found something that would work, putting everything in reverse and speeding it up and back to the final shot of him at the funeral. After deciding this we then got on in a much more uplifted mood.
